"Brighter than Sunshine" - Aqualung |
] |
This was probably my best birthday ever.
It started out pretty mediocre - I had to get up and go give a 8 minute speech at school (my senior project presentation). I didn't even bother practicing it, they pretty much will pass you if you show up. But it went well, I'm actually getting good at speeches, which I don't really like.
And then after that I went to my grandparents and we went out to have Chinese. It was good :)
Then I went to my cousin Clint's to help him, his wife and son pack. I really didn't want to do it on my birthday (and I could've got out of it) but I wasn't there super long and it wasn't hard.
So I went home and Alex was over... I opened his present (a Narnia keychain and money). Alex always gives me keychains, and they always rock.
So my mom told me we were going out to eat, but she didn't tell me where or anything. I figured she had invited Charlie, because she asked me for his phone number earlier in the day :-P I never did give it to her though, haha. So when we got there and I saw Charlie's car, I wasn't suprised or anything.
Turns out there was a hgue suprise party for me at the pizza place... oh man! All of my closest friends (and then some) were there. Ben, Charlie, Nate, Nicole, Grant, Kaylie, Robin, Angela, Tera, and David were all there, I was so suprised. Grant missed part of a wedding to come :-P I love that kid.
My parents had actually asked Charlie last week, and he had told Robin to get others. It was so fun, we ended up taying there for hours after my parents left, haha.
Then I went back to Charlie's for a little while. We played pool and started to watch a movie, but got bored. So after that, me, Ben, Charlie, Robin, Angela, and Theresa (who was now with us) played "007" on Nintendo 64, haha.
I normally don't like going all out on my bday, but it turned out awesome. I still haven't even opened presents from my parents, haha. I didn't even tell them anything that I wanted, but I already saw what they got me.
I'm annoyed though - I need to thank people on myspace for their birthday wishes, and it keeps giving me a stupid error thing. I've tried about 15 times now :-P
And I really need to sleep, because tomorrow I'm supposed to go do shopping at the mall with my mom and then a bunch of people are going to see a movie (they want to see "Break Up" - which I don't really want to see because it's a chick flick, but I'll probably go anyway.) If I can takl Gavin in to going, I'll go.
Done blabbing :)

Ahh... this is one of those weeks where I keep saying "if I can make it to Friday, I'll be fine". I have SO much homework to do, plus the Christmas issue of thenewspaper. I'm a bit worried about my page.
On a better note... we're going bowling in PE today!! Not sure why, but it'll be fun. I love bowling.
Went to the varsity girls' basketball game last night. They won the game, it was cool. Also, I think I'm going to the Blazers game next Sunday... awesome.
"Wunderkind" is nominated for a Golden Globe! This is her first Globe nominee since "Uninvited" in '99. She has decent chances of winning it, too. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/8950585?rnd=1134535391437&has-player=true&version=6.0.12.1348

Tagged by Kaitlyn! Not sure if it's good or bad to be tagged :-P but here goes:
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
1. Wunderkind - Alanis Morissette 2. The Apartment Song - Tom Petty 3. Butterfly in Reverse - Counting Crows 4. Annabella's Song - Everclear 5. Crazy - Alanis Morissette 6. And I'm Telling You - Tamyra Gray (full studio version!) 7. She Says - Howie Day (some live version, not radio)
Edit: oh yes, I'll tag Corey because she's already done it AND she has Tamyra on there ;)
Real entry later, perhaps, if I decide to take a break from homework.

"Wunderkind" - Alanis (Narnia soundtrack) |

I took my senior pictures today. It was really easy (only lasted about 40 minutes), and luckily we had nice weather today. She's supposed to call me tomorrow to give me a web address, and then I go there and pick out the ones I like.
I went with Charlie down to the football game - pretty long drive. We killed the other team 47-7, which is sad because it's the third round of the state playoffs. It was worth going to though, even though I just hung out with Kate most of the time. They had a recap of the game on the news this morning.
My grandma and aunt are over this weekend, because my cousins getting married. The reception is tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I'm going to it or not. I want to go watch the school play again, because tomorrow's show is the last one, and Charlie wants me to go with. I think I'm going to see Harry Potter with him and a few others sometime this week too.
I HATE senior project stuff. There's another deadline this week, and I'll meet it, but it's just really annoying. Too much stuff going on at once. I need to make sure I go get fitted for a tux soon too, because Snoball is in TWO weeks, haha. Guys always wait til last minute, but I'm starting to worry. Kate keeps telling me to hurry it up, lol.
I like this song... makes me want to see The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. A bunch of people don't like it, but I think it sounds good. Lyrics are just ok though. I watched Conan last night to see Alanis and Ryan (aka Ry-anis, haha, Conan rocks). They did the "what if they had kids" segment and their kid was pretty scary. Ryan was funny... Alanis' "Crazy" performance was good. I missed her on Regis and Kelly, but I'm sure I can download it soon.
More babysitting tonight... it's tiring, but I actually don't mind :)

The football game tonight was so fun. I only got to talk to Kate for a little bit, but I hung out with Gavin for awhile, and Charlie of course. I heard Ironic on the radio on the way to Shari's, it rocked, haha. Fun day, though I spent way too much money, mainly because gas is so expensive.
Zorro was actually a good movie! There were some parts that were SO unrealistic though, but it was entertaining.
Nothing else to share really... I'm watching the vh1 top 20 countdown and I'm a bit bored waiting for good vids to come on.

"I Will Buy You A New Life" - Everclear |

THREE WEEKS LEFT OF CROSS COUNTRY! We all openly admitted at our meet today that we're counting down, haha. I have a good chance of making it to state, which rocks. That would be a good reason to extend the season another 2 weeks - there would only be one additional meet, too, and I wouldn't have to do good, because everybody else there would be fricking amazing.
So yes, I got 9th out of 100+ today, and there was some good competition there. I was 4th for my conference, and all other schools were there (plus a ton of Portland schools). It was kind of a "districts preview", which is in 3 weeks. Top 7 go to state, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My right leg is kind of in a knot though, and I'm icing it as I type this :-P Oh well, only 3 weeks left!
So yes, we had late night for the paper, except I got there right as it was ending. Only and 8 pager this week, so late night didn't last very long. I will stay after tomorrow to finish it though, so no worries.
I'm going to see "The Gospel" Friday night, can't wait. Tamyra and Boris (the male and female leads) were hosting Monday's primetime lineup on UPN, which I watched. I also watched part of the Amazing Race (for the first time this season, the family thing is boring) because there was a commercial for it during one of the breaks, haha. I bought the soundtrack too (Tamyra has one song on it), and it's in the mail :-P It debuted this week on the top 200 for Billboard charts, which is pretty impressive. Can't wait to see the movie.
I have to be at school by 7:45 tomorrow... another morning meeting this week. Monday we had an NHS meeting, tomorrow is Link Crew. I have to sell candy for NHS to get points, and it's going along well. I got the box yesterday afternoon (it has 52 bars in it) and I sold 18 yesterday alone, haha. I only sold 3 more today though, but I wasn't really trying. I'll have to work harder at it tomorrow.
I think I'll go to bed early tonight, I want sleeeeep!

"Crazy" - Alanis |

Waiting for a download... perfect time to update!
Went to the football game tonight - we won! The high school we beat is one of the best in the state, so that's cool. I've been to all of the home games this year, and we (Charlie, Justin, Danielle, Nicole and I) went to Shari's after it was over - again. Nicole started a mini food fight with the pie we had, haha. I got her good. Some guy from Gresham XC team was there and he came over to talk to us (since we are all in his conference). He was talking to Charlie and he said "Are you Shawn (last name)" and I'm like "That would be me..." - The guy kinda knew who Charlie was too. It's weird that people from other schools know me from XC. I don't know hardly ANYBODY from other schools XC teams, except the freakishly good people. Maybe I should know these things.
The newspaper turned out decent. Our middle page spread ROCKED. Got another issue coming out next Friday. Gahh.
I have a TON of homework this weekend. It's terrible. As long as I get a bunch of it done tomorrow. I want to get a really good grade on my AP Euro essay because I don't think I did so hot on my test yesterday.
I'm going to Alex's show tomorrow night; trying to talk Robin into coming, but she doesn't want to miss the dance. I'm going to try to go to both of them.
Boring entry. I apologize.

Just got back today from the beach! dun dun dun...
So we went there Monday morning. The weather was great; I would actually call it hot. The Oregon coast is rarely this nice. I rode up with Mr. Quirke, Mike, and a few other boring people. Charlie was in the other car. When we got there we basically had lunch and went on an hour run on the beach. Not an easy run. From there out we basically had the rest of the day off though. We didn't do anything too exciting, but we all played "Cranium". There was eight of us there, so we decided it was going to be four teams of two. Because there were pictures of brains on the box, I quickly chose Mike as my partner, and then everybody else paired off. We killed them. Nobody stood a chance. I had to do all the weird things, like drawing things down with my eyes closed. It was awesome. I love board games.
So yesterday we woke up early, and went on a half hour run around town to "loosen up". And then a few hours later we climbed some huge mountain, though I don't know the name. It took us about an hour to get up, running and walking, and most people were pretty sore afterwords. Afterwords a few of us went down to the beach to swim (it WAS freezing). I started a mud fight (wet sand) and ended up getting more sand on me than anybody else :-P Haha. Then Charlie and I walked around town for a little while and got back to the cabin to watch the last part of some movie they rented.
This morning we got up, ran for half an hour, and then cleaned. The girls got there at 12, and we all had lunch before the guys were booted out. Fun trip overall, but a few of the guys are a bit too boring. ---
Now I need to get back to working :-P

I. Got. A. Job.
!
Haha, sorry. I work in a fruit factory; Mike and I went in and applied and they hired us on the spot. They need a ton of help. So we ended up working tonight, for almost 7 hours. I'm not complaining :) I LOVE how they do the hours, because I only have to go when I want to. Which means I'm not going tomorrow because I have practice at that time. I just have to call in the day before and tell them when I want to work. I didn't know it either, but Ben works there too. We hung out for awhile because he also works night shifts. I think I work again Tuesday night. I love it.
Anyway, a ton of people are coming over this weekend for my dad's cousins's funeral. We were going to have a family reunion at a hot springs in eastern Oregon, but that was cancelled and now the family reunion is at a funeral hall :(
I'm tired.

Fourth of July: It was decent. My dad chose this day, of all days, to do yardwork. We went to my aunt and uncles at 3. I thought it would be a lot worse, it's usually really boring at their house, but Shelby was there. Crystal came down. It was the first time I've really got to have a conversation with her. Hopefully she starts visiting MUCH more often. She took Shelby and me to a park (after we got lost, haha) and we were blasting Nevermind, Jagged Little Pill, and Back in Black in her car. Turns out her CD collection is very similar to mine. And then she played some country junk and I was disgusted :-P Awesome spending time with her though.
Shelby and I also stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's for two night's last week. Won't go too into detail incase I already posted about it, but it was very fun. We went to another one of Josh's baseball game a few night's later. I think we made fun of the ever-so-annoying umpire more then we watched the game. Good times.
Big Brother tonight was good. I like the twist, thus far. Don't like the alpha male alliance, and I have no favorites yet. I like Jennifer though. Most of the other females are very forgetable- I don't think I could even name them all.
I watched a good part of the Amazing Race too. I guess Alison didn't annoy enough viewers on Big Brother. Why they put her on the cast, I don't know. Miss Politically Incorrect yells out "HERE COMES THE MIDGET!" and I officially declare her retarded (now I'm politically incorrect, heh). Obviously, I like Charla and Mirna, not sure if I'm a big enough fan to watch this show out. Never could get into it.
I want to go to bed, but I'm not tierd at all. Just dead bored. :(

Birthdays for 80 year old women are not that exciting. ;) My aunt and grandma are here this weekend, leaving tomorrow, and they came for my great aunt's 80th birthday party. Luckily, Racheal came (and brought Caden!) so I actually knew somebody. Well, I knew Sam too. Sadly. He still annoys me, but luckily he left early. Josh has a baseball tournament in Hillsboro, so my parents had an excuse to miss the "party".
I think I'm going over to my (other) grandma's house. Will be fun. My grandpa had another surgery last week, and I think he still has his funny bandage thing on. He is so fun to bug :)
I'm really bored right now. The weathers good, so I may go outside soon, I'm just a bit tierd. My grandma's watching "Wheel of Fortune" in the other room, I guess I could go get in on that. ;)

School is out. I'm not excited. I'm not upset. I will enjoy it though :) I was so worried about my political studies grade, because Ms. Myers a) can't count and b) forgot two of my assignments on her last TWO grade updates. So I searched the net for her email adress, and sent her a message. I have an A in there :) I did pretty bad on my math final, but I knew I didn't have to try hard, I had a 97% going into it.
Clint and Racheal came over Wednesday, and I got to see their baby Caden. He's 2 months old, really chubby. And that night I went to Alex's t-ball game. All the kids, including the girls, were taller then him :-P I only saw about 20 minutes of it though, it was pretty funny.
Pepsi Smash is a cool show. I had to sit through Maroon 5 (who I can't stand) and a few more enjoyable performances (Joss Stone, Blink 182) to see Alanis. She did "Everything," which was my favorite live version of it since the Junos, and "You Oughta Know," which was awkward to watch after seeing the thing on 101 best kept Hollywood secrets about who "Mr. Duplicity" is. They think she wrote the song about Dave Collie (sp?) who played Joey on Full House. HAHAHA. Apparently they were dating, which is the sickest thing next to hot dog meat.
I'm going over to Kevin's in a few minutes. The weather's pretty 'bleh' at the moment, but if it's decent we may go on a bike ride to get pizza or something.

I talked to Meghan today, for the first time in AGES. I'm not a big phone person in the first place, and my cold made me sound like big bird on drugs, but I enjoyed our hour and a half phone call. We're going to go see "Troy" Thursday, before finals preparation consumes all of our free time.
Grandma took me to see some of her relatives today. She didn't want to go on her own, so I went with. It was fun. Oh yes, and my name is no longer "Santa Claus" ...! Long story, quiet funny too. Glad you're feeling better Gramps ;)
We're going to the park tomorrow for some kind of barbeque type family get together. My uncles birthday is Wednesday also, and it was the only day open. I'm hoping it doesn't rain. :-/
Alanis's 30th birthday is Tuesday (my fellow Gemini..) and what better present is there then the number 1 cd in the world? She's so lucky :-P Number 5 in US, but she's number 1 in 5 large oversea countries.
Oh yes, another nutty Canadian (Colin) has a bday coming up on Thursday! :-P I'll have to hunt down his email and congradulate him on his oldness. :)

I just got done playing a full season game of "Survivor: The Ultimate," because I'm that bored. I'm actually just really psyched about the s1 DVD coming out.
Anyways, I've done practically nothing today (which is why I'm actually updating!). I got a story wrote for journalism, but still have another to do. I'm not sure I have enough quotes/info though.
I want to go to this concert. Badly. It's in July, so I might just ask for tickets for my birthday. Or I may just buy them the second they are released to make sure I get good seats. Either way, I must go. And I'm buying her cd on the 18th. And Tamyra's the 25th(but I'm mad about her promotion).
Can't wait until schools over! I'm enjoying it, but I'd like a nice long break. Same for track.
I'm going to go find something to keep me occupied now. Have a great rest-of-the-weekend all.

Our practice is in the pool today! Why the track team is going to be in the pool, I don't know. The distance people have to do more then just a swimming workout though. :( The eight mile run yesterday merits a day off.
Survivor tonight... commercials for it look good. "Will Rob and Amber turn on each other?" - well, that would be nice! Not likely though, my guess is they want viewers. And I have to tape Primetime Live tonight with Tamyra, K Lo, and Rj for their "Fallen Idol" special.
Idol was lame last night. My guess is Jennifer had the least votes, and they put LaToya and Fantasia in the bottom 3 to shock viewers. Either way, one of the sucky singers will go next week because of this, I'm hoping it's John or Diana.
Big presentation today in Honors Biology. Yikes. I'm somewhat ready. Trials are finally over in Political Studies, and we won ours. Not like we had any competition.
Ehh... school time.

 Power Rangers Movie!
What movie Do you Belong in?(many different outcomes!) brought to you by Quizilla
WHAT IS THIS?! I think not... :-P
I still have a ton of homework to get done by tomorrow. I've already done all the easy homework, and now I just have the huge Honors Biology presentation. I do not like that class.
I've been beating myself up all weekend, and not perpously. Maybe I should be back in school and busy. And there's only 38 days left of school. Still too many.
Survivor rocks. Jenna's in the final 7, she's already made it further then she did in season 1. Her, Rupert, Alicia and Tom should make an alliance. AI = perfect. Didn't like movie night too much, a few kareoke performances, but Fantasia was great.
I love the 80's strikes back is a hilarious show. Sad thing is, a lot of that stuff was still "in" during the early 90's, and I actually remember it.
Alex just got here, brought me an orange air head. Guess I gotta go watch him now.

I hate political studies. Seriously, worse class I've ever had. There's more F's in there then A's. Kaitlyn and I have two of the three A's in there, and nobody else cares. We're doing mock trials- guess who skipped class yesterday and missed all the prepairing? BOTH MY WITNESSES :-P Heh, ok, I'll spaz elsewhere.
The suprised us with CIM testing in math. How lovely. I'm not even half done yet, and we only have one period to do it. And I'll miss that period because track gets out early Wednesday. I'm going in today with Katie to see when we can make it up.
Speaking of track... the 3000 meter race truly sucks. Luckily, I'm doing the 1500 Wednesday. Charlie has to do both, heh.
Two minutes til I have to catch the bus, this is as updated as my lj will get.

Juno's are tonight. And I can't watch them :-P And according to an article I read earlier, 'Everything' is going to be the last performance of the night or something. :(
Survivor= awesome. Yet very annoying. Darn Lex and Kathy for not voting out Amber. Now I have to put up with another episode of Amber and Rob. Pass the barf bag. Looks like a merge next episode, and Jenna has made the jury. <3
Tamyra is on AI3 in 3 days! Ahh... too long of a wait. It's a full hour results show, so she'll probably get a lot of time. Oh, nobody vote for John Stevens this week! :-D He should've gone last week, or Camille, and LaToya should not have been bottom 3. I'm not too upset that Amy went, it was only a matter of time.
Tru Calling is on Thursday the 15th, and pictures have started to leak. (hence the new Tamyra icon) It's on at the same time as survivor though, so I'll tape it and watch survivor.
I have a track meet this Wednesday and one Saturday- very bad thing. I have to run the 3000 meter on Saturday too. Great. Apparently that's the race I'm going to start running from now on. Why I was not notified of this decision, I do not know.
Ok, I better get going. Enjoy the rest of the weekend...
